The short version
- We do not collect personal information about you.
- We don’t collect usage analytics.
- We don't sell any of your data (again, we don't even have a copy).
- Your packing lists, settings, and trip details stay on your device.
- The app only talks to outside services when a feature needs them — Apple Weather, Apple Maps, and RevenueCat for subscriptions.
Your data lives on your device
Everything you create in Packing Ready — lists, items, preferences, and the details of your trips — is stored locally on your device. We do not run servers that hold your data, and we do not sync your content to our own cloud.
That means you stay in control. If you delete the app or remove your data from the device, it’s gone from our perspective too, because we never had a copy.
We don’t collect personal information
“Personal information” (often called PII) means things that identify you — like your name, email address, phone number, or account details. Packing Ready does not ask for that information, and we do not receive it.
There is no sign-up, no profile outside your device, and no way for us to know who you are through the app.
We don’t collect analytics, either
Some apps send anonymized data — things like which screens you opened or how often you tapped a button — to help companies understand usage patterns. Packing Ready does not do that today. We are not tracking how you use the app, and we are not building statistics about our users.
We do intend to add limited, thoroughly anonymized analytics in the future — enough to spot big trends (for example, whether a feature is broadly useful), but never to identify you or build a profile. It has taken us a long time because it is genuinely hard to find a third-party service that treats privacy the way we think it should be treated.
If and when we add analytics, we will update this page first and tell you plainly what changed, what provider we chose, and why we believe it is safe.
When the app connects to the internet
Packing Ready is designed to work mostly on your device. The only times it reaches out beyond your device are when a feature genuinely needs outside help:
- Apple Weather — to show forecast-based packing suggestions for your trip, as well as the forecast itself.
- Apple Maps — when location-related features need map or place information.
- RevenueCat — to manage subscriptions and unlock paid features (see below).
Weather and map requests go to Apple’s services, not to servers we operate. What Apple receives and how they handle it is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and your device settings. We do not sit in the middle collecting copies of that data.
Subscriptions and payments
If you subscribe to Packing Ready, payments are handled through Apple’s App Store. Any credit card, billing, or other financial details stay solely with Apple — we never see or store them. To keep track of who has access to paid features, we use RevenueCat — a service that helps apps manage subscriptions.
RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or other information that identifies you personally. It works with non-identifying data — things like whether a subscription is active on a given device — so we can unlock the right features for paying users. We don’t use RevenueCat to profile you or build marketing lists.
How RevenueCat handles data on their end is covered by their privacy policy. We chose them because this setup lets us manage subscriptions and paywalls without running servers for the same purpose.
What we don’t do
To be extra clear, Packing Ready does not:
- Sell your information to anyone
- Share your data with advertisers
- Use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs
- Store your packing lists on our servers
Children
Packing Ready is a general-purpose packing tool. Because we do not collect personal information through the app, we also do not knowingly gather data from children in a way that would identify them to us.
If this policy changes
If we ever need to update this policy — for example, because we add a new feature that connects to a different service — we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. We will keep the same spirit: your trip details belong to you, on your device.
